Day 01 : Arrive Kolkata
Welcome to India– a country where hospitality is a way of life : to a culture steeped in tradition, a land where history lives in music and dance. Our representative will receive you at the airport in a traditional manner with garlands and escort you to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 02 : Kolkata – Bagdogra – Kurseong: By flight/surface (65kms 2-3hrs drive)
Transfer to the airport to board the flight for Bagdogra, the nearest Apt. Received and transfer to Kurseong for overnight stay. After check in at hotel, later in the evening one is free to explore the local bazar of Kurseong.
Day 03 : Kurseong
Visit the renowned organic and bio-dynamic Ambootia Tea Factory- home to some of the most innovative, exclusive and expensive teas in the world. Also, visit Shiv Mandir on the tea estate set under a magnificent banyan, Rudraksh berry and orange grove. Then we have a tea tour around the estate. O/N Hotel
Day 04 : Kurseong – Darjeeling (28Kms 1-1and half hrs drive)
Breakfast at Salamander lake-between the tea gardens of Margaret Hope and Balason. This is the natural habitat to the endangered Himalayan Salamander.
After lunch drive to Darjeeling. Overnight at hotel.
Day 05 : Darjeeling
Early morning watch the rising sun at Tiger Hill and while returning back stop at Ghoom Monastery for sightseeing and later board ‘Toy Train’ a steam locomotive for a joy ride of Darjeeling hills. Afternoon, tour of Botanical Garden, Observatory Hill, Dhirdham temple, Zoological Park.
Overnight at the hotel.
Day 06 : Darjeeling – Kalimpong (54kms 3-3and half hrs drive)
Transfer from Darjeeling to Kalimpong. This drive is about 3 to 3 and half hours covering distance of 54 km. Kalimpong was a main trade Centre between India and Tibet till 1959. The frontier between India and Tibet was sealed after the Chinese took over Tibet in 1959. After lunch will visit Durpin Dara Monastery which was built in 1840. This monastery belongs to Ningmapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Nigmapa is the oldest sect in Tibetan Buddhism. After this we’ll walk around the colourful bazar of Kalimpong and return to hotel.
Day 07 : Kalimpong – Pemayangtse 95kms/ 4 ½ hrs
Post breakfast we leave for Pemayangtse located at a height of 2085 meters. Today you will really enjoy your drive through beautiful hamlets and pine forests.Visit Tashiding monastery, Pine forested Yaksum, Dhubdi monastery. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 08 : Pemayangtse – Rumtek – Gangtok :(125kms 5-6hrs)
After an Early Breakfast proceed to Pemayangste Monastery (Situated at an altitude of 6840 ft (2105 mts) Pemayangste is famous for its Nyingmapa monastery which is situated on the top of the hill of Gyalsing town (6kms away). The Kanchenjunga mountains from here is said to be 40 kms crows fly. The monastery has numerous religious idols and other objects of worship, most of which are priceless because of antiquity. Post sightseeing we will drive towards Gangtok The Capital city of Sikkim (115 kms (via Rabongla) via Teesta and Rangit rivers and the hilly pass of Ravongla. We pass through small towns, paddy fields, wet cardamom plantation, small monasteries and of course, the magnificent view of Kanchenjunga and its ranges from the hills of Ravongla. A 4 Hours drive takes us to Rumtek Monastery – The seat of Karmapa who heads the Karma – Kagyupa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Built in 1960s the monastery is said to be the biggest monastery in Sikkim which has its own school to impart teachings in Tibetan and various aspects of Tibetan Buddhism). Arrive Gangtok in the evening and check-in
at your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 09 : Gangtok
Early Morning go to tashi view point to enjoy the Sunrise over Mt.Kanchenjunga and later after relax breakfast take a tour of Orchid sanctuary, deer park, Do-Drul Chorten and Monastery, Institute of Tibetology.
Day 10 : Gangtok – Bagdogra – Kolkata
Leave for Bagdogra to catch your flight for Kolkata. Arrive at Kolkata and get assistance transfer to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 11 : Kolkata – Onward destination (Flight)
Morning proceed for half day city tour covering Victoria Memorial – Victoria Memorial is one of the most fascinating landmarks of Kolkata It is made of White Marble and there is a harmonious blend of European and Mughal architecture and Eden Garden – Eden Garden is the oldest cricket ground in India and is also considered one of the finest in the world. Near the garden, you can take a pleasant walk along the bank of hooghly river. Post sightseeing get assistance transfer to the International airport to board the flight to onward destination.
